William Alex Foxen

William Alexander “Alex” Foxen is an American professional poker player from Cold Spring Harbor, New York. Born on February 1, 1991, he built much of his early career online under the screen name “bigfox86” before becoming best known as a live tournament professional. He now lives in Las Vegas and represents ACR Poker under the nickname “Outfoxenyou.”

Before poker became his profession, Foxen was a multi-sport athlete. He played football, ice hockey and lacrosse at Cold Spring Harbor High School, earning Academic All-Conference recognition in all three sports. He later joined Boston College’s NCAA Division I football program as a 6-foot-4 tight end and studied at the university’s Carroll School of Management, graduating in 2014 before moving directly into professional poker.

Foxen is also active in poker education. After joining Chip Leader Coaching as one of its early students, he later became a coach and helped develop training products including The Closer and Chip Leader AI. He has said that much of his improvement comes from discussing hands with other strong players while using solver software to understand strategic principles rather than simply memorizing outputs.

His athletic background still influences how he prepares, with exercise, meditation, music, and structured study forming part of his routine. Foxen describes one of poker’s central lessons as learning to be “more like water than rock” - adapting to changing situations instead of trying to overpower every opponent. He is married to fellow professional poker player Kristen Foxen, and the couple famously skipped a traditional honeymoon after their 2022 Florida Keys wedding to travel directly to another poker series.
