John Land

John “Cowboy John” Land is an American poker player associated with Dallas and Frisco, Texas. His “Cowboy” nickname comes from the white cowboy hat he often wore at the poker table - a distinctive part of his public poker persona.

Before pursuing poker full-time, Land owned a construction business. He sold it in 2009 and transitioned into professional tournament play, traveling to events around the United States. His full-time professional status was documented in 2010, rather than independently confirmed as his current occupation.

Beyond the tournament circuit, Land has appeared in livestreamed cash games on Hustler Casino Live under the name “Cowboy John.” His documented appearances on the show date back to 2021, connecting his established live-poker background with the livestream scene.

Land has also spoken about the personal challenges of life on the poker road. In a 2010 interview, he credited his wife and son for their support and said that balancing his love of poker with family time was a top priority. He also acknowledged the strain of extended travel and uncertain results.
