Harvey Castro

Harvey Castro is an American professional poker player and former college soccer player from Flower Mound, Texas. Before turning to poker, he played midfielder at Southern Methodist University, where he studied finance and earned American Athletic Conference All-Academic recognition for balancing academics with competitive athletics.

Castro built an accomplished soccer career before entering the poker world. He captained Marcus High School's soccer team, earned All-American and All-State honors, and helped Solar Soccer Club win two national youth championships. He credits balancing soccer, school, and poker with developing the discipline, focus, and mental resilience that later served him at the poker table.

Castro started playing poker with his brother at 18 and began live games at Texas Card House in Dallas a year later. What began as a college-era interest grew into a full-time profession. Alongside competing in cash games and tournaments, he runs a coaching stable that mentors young professionals and shares his knowledge of the game.

Outside poker, Castro is known for his strong Christian faith, which he has discussed openly in interviews. His "Christ Alone" hoodie, he has explained, reflects his belief that faith matters more than financial success or competitive achievements. He has appeared on poker broadcasts such as Poker House Live and PokerGO, bringing a competitive athlete's mindset to the live poker scene.
