Haralabos Voulgaris

Haralabos “Bob” Voulgaris is a Canadian sports bettor, entrepreneur, former NBA executive, and high-stakes poker player of Greek heritage. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he became known for his analytical approach to professional basketball betting. Using statistical models to identify inefficiencies in betting markets, he built a reputation as one of the NBA’s most sophisticated bettors.

From 2018 to 2021, Voulgaris was the Dallas Mavericks’ Director of Quantitative Research and Development, applying his expertise in data analysis and basketball strategy. He also helped develop an NBA prediction model called “Ewing.” His career spans professional gambling, sports analytics, and business, with interests in cryptocurrency and investment management.

In July 2022, Voulgaris acquired Spanish football club CD Castellón and became its president. He brought a data-driven approach to the club, using statistical analysis to guide player recruitment and team development. Outside sports, he has discussed his early involvement with Bitcoin and his experiences in professional betting, including having boxing legend Floyd Mayweather place wagers on his behalf.

Known in poker circles as “Haralabob,” Voulgaris has appeared in televised and livestreamed high-stakes cash games, including “High Stakes Poker” and “Hustler Casino Live”. Though experienced at the poker table, he is best known for sports betting and analytics rather than as a full-time poker professional. His unusual combination of NBA expertise, football-club ownership, and high-stakes gambling has made him recognizable both within and beyond the poker world.
