Esther Taylor

Esther “ETay” Taylor is an American professional poker player and mixed-game specialist. Born in South Korea and adopted as a young child, she grew up in Portland, Oregon. She taught herself poker online, developing a passion for mixed formats that became the foundation of her playing career.

Before pursuing poker professionally, Taylor worked at Wells Fargo, advancing into private banking and investments before leaving the industry in 2006. Motherhood later reshaped her priorities: she stepped away to raise her daughter, returned to poker around 2015, and spent years balancing playing with family life.

Taylor founded Her Edge Academy, a women-focused poker training initiative launched in June 2026, with a particular interest in making mixed games more accessible. Her enthusiasm for mentoring extends beyond poker - she has also coached her daughter’s softball team and helped teams connected to her own high-school playing days.

Away from the table, Taylor co-owns Penelope’s Pitstop with chef Penelope Manalili, providing Las Vegas catering and meal delivery for private poker games and events. She also joined BetMGM’s poker ambassador roster in June 2026, representing the brand through livestreams, social media, and live appearances.
