Daniel Negreanu

Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu is a Canadian-born professional poker player whose career also spans television and online content creation. Born in Toronto to Romanian immigrants, he left high school one art credit short of graduating and began playing poker full-time in local charity casinos and gambling halls.

Beyond playing, Negreanu teaches his own poker MasterClass, sharing his approach to strategy, reading opponents, and decision-making. His daily WSOP vlogs give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the routines and experiences of a professional poker player throughout the summer series.

Away from poker, Negreanu became vegetarian in 2000 and vegan in 2006, later discussing animal welfare and environmental concerns alongside his original health motivations. A passionate hockey supporter, he helped campaign for an NHL team in Las Vegas and said he purchased 12 seats intended for local children, primarily pupils at an underprivileged elementary school.

His charitable work includes helping establish the St. Jude Against All Odds poker fundraiser in 2014. In 2024, he and his wife Amanda launched MANIA, a deliberately non-poker podcast exploring relationships, mental health, and everyday life together.

Negreanu’s public appearances extend into entertainment and gaming: he made cameos in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas” music video. He also appeared at BlizzCon 2015 in a Hearthstone exhibition against fellow poker professional Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
