Bryn Kenney

Bryn Kenney is an American professional poker player from Long Beach, New York, known for competing in high-stakes live games and building an extensive online poker career. He played on PokerStars under the screen name “BrynKenney” and is sometimes called “Sensei.” After establishing himself online, he became a familiar face on televised poker shows, including High Stakes Poker.

Before turning to poker, Kenney was a highly competitive Magic: The Gathering player. He began playing the strategy game at age 12 and has said he reached the top of the worldwide junior rankings as a teenager. His early interest in strategy, competition, and reading opponents helped shape his approach to poker. He briefly attended college and considered working in real estate through his grandmother’s office before deciding to pursue poker professionally.

Beyond playing, Kenney co-founded the online poker platform 4Poker and previously served as a GGPoker ambassador. He has also been involved in poker coaching initiatives through 4Poker. Known for his independent approach to strategy, he describes himself as a “lone wolf,” preferring to develop his own methods rather than rely on study groups. He has compared poker to an art form, emphasizing intuition, creativity, and unconventional thinking.

Away from the table, Kenney is known for his distinctive style, often wearing comfortable robes and kimonos during poker sessions. He has spoken about his enthusiasm for traveling to Japan, particularly for its food and shopping. The oldest of five siblings, he has a younger brother, Tyler Kenney, who is also a professional poker player. His competitive gaming roots, entrepreneurial ambitions, and unconventional personality make him one of poker’s most recognizable figures.
